Reverent Submission/ Learned Obedience
Read Hebrews 5:7-10
The writer of Hebrews states “during the days of Jesus’ life on earth, he offered up prayers and petitions with loud cries and tears to the one who could save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverent submission”. As we follow Christ in 2011, we can learn from Him in many areas: “He was heard because of his reverent submission”. How hard it is for us to let go and allow God to be in charge. It takes an act of our will to submit to “His ways, His plans and not our own”. I was challenged by these words. (Lord help me to submit to you in 2011 whatever you want for me.) The writer of Hebrews goes on to say “although he was a son, he learned obedience from what he suffered”. Jesus learned obedience – wow! If Jesus had to learn to obey – how much more- you and I. (Lord help us to learn it all works out better – if we just obey your commands and follow your leadership!)
Well it’s my prayer that you and I grow in our willingness to simply surrender to the Lord and follow Him in 2011. All of us know down deep – to obey Him, brings the blessings.
