Why Build a Lighthouse in Southern Illinois?
Like any "building" in our area such as your local church, the structure is simply a tool to point people to the LORD Jesus Christ. This Lighthouse will be a tool to show that Jesus Christ is the Light of the World. It will provide a source of HOPE and revelation of who Jesus Christ is and that He is calling us out of the darkness and into His marvelous LIGHT!
A founding board member once said she had a dream concerning Eagle House. She saw a large lighthouse sending forth huge beams of light from the top of Eagle House Hill! We both chuckled and I said, “who knows maybe we’ll get one!”
Several years later... God began to instill in other board members the same concept. Some of our goals were to build an observatory deck to get a better view of the valley below, a small outdoor chapel and a public bathroom to accommodate visitors who always come to enjoy the view.
The lighthouse concept integrates all of these goals into one unit. As time has progressed the lighthouse has become a permanent vision for us at Eagle House.
‘A light set on a hill!’
A light which will symbolize the light of Jesus Christ. A light which will point people to heaven. A light which will draw people to Jesus Christ. A light that will send many into the world with a renewed understanding of Christ's mercy and love.
Come and see what the LORD has done!!!
The Lighthouse is open to anyone who wants to come from 8am-8pm, seven days a week!
